The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to improvise and come up with innovative, workable solutions on the ground. It's a constant trial and error, to find the best way to help the most people in the shortest time.

With many more COVID-19 cases, mostly mild, we urgently needed a solution to house the large numbers, and not let our hospitals get swamped.

This TODAY article shows a timelapse of how two halls in Singapore Expo were converted into a temporary isolation facility for 950 patients in just three days. We now have four halls completed and occupied, and six more soon to come.

Other locations being repurposed include the Changi Exhibition Centre (http://cna.asia/2x8BlUy) for 2,800 people, and Tanjong Pagar Terminal (https://str.sg/JMnZ) for 15,000.

These community facilities allow our hospitals to focus on the more serious cases. Many people worked very hard to make this happen. Medical staff from both restructured and private hospitals have stepped forward to look after the patients in these facilities. To all of you, a heartfelt thank you! – LHL
